I am a Kamma (Indian Caste/community). Though I am yet to test my Genetic markers I am told my community has a very high R1a1(M17) concentration. In addition we now know from studies that most North Indian castes/communities share this group with a high concentration found in Rajputs, UP Brahmins and W. Bengal brahmins.

This is also supported by oral tales carried down from generation to generation that we have come down from somewhere around Iran to N. India and then again migrated to S. India to settle in the present state of Andhra Pradesh. I am also committed to finding out my roots through my family name (pamulapathy) from a book by an old Indian sage wherein he has written down all known family names of my community in the late 10th or 11 century I suppose.

Is anyone out there on the lookout for something similar?
